EROTIC MAGAZINE FOR WOMEN AND COUPLES » NEWS » Is it possible to discuss female friendly porn at the Cannes Film Festival? Susan Sarandon thinks so.

There’s always some little racy item to come out of the Cannes film festival and the one that caught my attention this year was one from the fabulous Susan Sarandon wishing to lend her skills to the porn industry and discuss female friendly porn.

According to the Guardian and Vanity Fair, the Oscar-winning star admitted that when she no longer was able to act she would wish to direct female friendly porn.

Her view she summarized was that female directors were more comfortable exploring the emotional undercurrent of a sex scene on film and she could certainly lend the industry her view, feeling that there wasn’t enough female friendly erotic content out there. Ah hello?!

It was certainly refreshing to hear that a highly acclaimed actress such as herself was liberal enough to see it as just another expression in film albeit one that focuses purely on the sexual aspect. I too agree that a female approach handles the aspect of sex between individuals differently to so much of the mainstream pornography that washes the Internet, but most Hollywood films do have a sexual element to hinge the emotions of the characters in the scene, just they can’t take it to the specific level that we can for adults only.

Just by her mentioning it, she helped to add support to the acceptability that watching erotic sexual content is not wrong for adults, although even in her own words she possibly hadn’t watched enough! Her knowledge of what female focused porn was available also seemed a little limited too because, ….it is available, you just need to look for it. We are still too much of a small voice both on the Internet and in Hollywood and sadly our budgets don’t extend to the Hollywood norm, nor do they experience the prejudices that are still associated with adult only, where we all appear in some eyes to be tarnished with the same bad brush. But I feel there is a slow change in the air, and all thanks to voices such as Ms. Sarandon who I look forward to welcoming on set one day… with her Hollywood budget of course.
